Grid Connection Manager (Freelancer; m/f/x)

Hamburg-based asset manager for clean energy infrastructure is looking for a Grid Connection Manager (m/f/x) to join the team in our Hamburg office as soon as possible as a freelancer. The role could become a permanent Luxcara position in the future upon mutual satisfaction.

Your responsibilities

Your tasks will focus on the following areas:

  • Coordinate and lead the dialogue and interface with transmission system operators of our two German offshore wind projects Waterkant (N-6.7) and Waterekke (N-9.3)
  • Manage the grid connection agreement negotiation process
  • Ensure the projects meet the regulatory and technological grid requirements
  • Support to economically and technically optimise the grid connection setup
  • Work closely with technical advisors and contractors on the interface of turbine technology, array cables and external grid connection
  • Prepare due date calendar and anti-claims prevention strategy
  • Liaise between the project’s legal and technical advisors and identify and solve interfaces
  • Contribute to other packages and workstreams as well as lead on other offshore wind development contracts and procurement and implementation (eg environmental studies)
  • Contributing to and leading management presentations
  • Working closely with project management and package managers

You will be responsible for the management of the grid connection setup for two German offshore wind projects in close collaboration with package managers and direct contact to senior management. The work covers technical, legal and commercial aspects with a focus on leading the interface between advisors and counterparties.

Your profile

  • Post-graduate university degree with above-average results (ideally in electrical engineering)
  • Min 5 years technical project or contract management experience in the renewable energy sector
  • Technical experience in offshore wind development and/or construction and/or operations
  • Experience in offshore wind contract negotiations (particularly in relation to grid, cable or WTG)
  • Very good technical and commercial understanding of offshore wind construction and operations contracts
  • Very good MS Office skills
  • Very good command of spoken and written English as well as ideally German
  • Very good communication and analytical skills
  • Reliability, diligence and a structured and independent way of working
  • Ability to work in a team, openness and a healthy dose of pragmatism
  • High flexibility and resilience, personal initiative and hands-on mentality
